Ok before I compense let me explain how I judged these. The data of rosters I took were from the 17th so all stuff recent isn't added. Also players were judged on how they performed on recent not 5 years ago or 5 years in the future. There are 5 main categories and 1 categories for prospects. The Rankings showed to me that a team could have a stud but yet not a very supporting cast or have focussed so much in one area they're lacking in another. So Here they are:
15. New York Islanders
Forward Offense: The Offense Needs work but has some bright pieces. New york has brought a younger squad that will need to show their growth. Questions are can Parenteau stats stay without tavares. Biggest strengths are assists with some studs but has a big weakness in shots and game winners.
Grade: C+
Forward Defense: This is a big struggling point with the Islander forwards being such Brutul plus minus players The only things holding them are Sedin's Plus minus and Martin's crazy Hit numbers.
Grade: C
Defensemen Offense: This area wasn't actually too bad problem is only 3 defense signed and they are getting up in age.
Grade: C+
Defensemen Defense: Need's help, period. Key hear is they need more men also some good plus minus and hitters would help. Steit for what he brings offensivly -27 does hurt when you only have 3 guys.
Grade: C-
Goalies: Not too bad Nabakov when focused is a pretty reliable option. Question is he motivated or going to stay healthy. But when does play expect modest numbers enough to keep in a mathchup
Grade: B-
Propsects: Could be desired more here. Strome and Nino are good but tavares departure leaves a big hole in future plans.
Grade: B-
Overall Grade: C-
14. New Jersey Devils
Forward Offense: Great bunch of forwards. Top assists and power play points along with alot of shots. Plus Kovie is now the man there so expect great numbers. But Questions will Parise thrive in a new system and can Clarkson repeat his 30 goal performance
Grade: A-
Forward Defense: Not great on this aspect for there forwards but they do alright good hits from clarkson and I has surprised when kovie almost got 100 blocks. The addition of Stepan was good with his soon to improve numbers
Grade: B-
Defensemen Offense: Its Bad the only way I can say it almost last in all Categories Fayne shows promise but with Kovie playing the point on the powerplay don't expect much points.
Grade: C-
Defensemen Defense: A bit better but some bruisers and more specialists could be required Volchenkov is the best boasting one of the few positive plus minus and over 100 in hits and blocks
Grade: C
Goalies: What the F*** haha I don't know what to say really. I'd actually would like to know.
Grade: C-
Prospects: Cupboards are pretty bare. With Larsson leaving Wedgwood is good but he's some years away.
Grade: C-
Overall Grade: C
13. Tampa Bay Lightning
Forward Offense: Loving Stamkos haha well here is where he shines. But we all know that stamkos is good but the overall top 2 lines are good contributers. Can purcell build of his 65 point season.
Grade: A
Forward Defense: Not as spectacular as offense since they need help with the plus minus and a hits or blocked shots specialist would improve well. Stamkos shines with his improvement by having 100 hits.
Grade: C+
Defensemen Offense: Is Hedman the offensive stud scouts were crying for I don't know now but the group needs some shooting help. Clutch game winners would be desired.
Grade: C
Defensemen Defense: Has potential If Babchuk makes the roster the blocked shots will come. Hopefully Brewer can keep producing with almost nearly 200 hits and 200 blocked shots. But the group is younger and with some luck of no injuries could help
Grade: C+
Goalies: Question Marks here how will Lindback do with the new job will he florish like Mike Smith in phoenix or Be the Mike Smith in Tampa.
Grade: C
Prospects: Pretty solid youth is there. Very Curious if Barberio can make the jump and produce if so stud alert.
Grade: B
Overall Grade: C
12. Florida Panthers
Forward Offense: What can I say just some older slick veterens who know the game. Very curious to see the impact Couturier and Granlund have on this roster.
Grade: B-
Forward Defense: Reliable here. a good plus minus which will help in tight matchups and with no specialits they manage to produce average totals to keep them in it.
Grade: B
Defensemen Offense: This is a weaker area with an aging core. But hopefully Ellis can emerge. Shots are hard to come by but minutes will be the factor.
Grade: C
Defensemen Defense: For being guys you may never think twice about. You may want to consider these guys Weaver and Jovanaski seem to be quietly producing numbers to help teams short term needs.
Grade: B
Goalies: Big question here. If the goalies don't play he loses but if they do florida has a great chance at winning these categories. Hedberg and Bernier when in don't let pucks go by like crazy
Grade: B - when they play
Prospects: Can I drool anymore. Sigh haha
Grade: A+
Overall Grade: C+
