Alvaro Montoya has cashed in today across the river. New Jersey has signed the free agency goaltender for 5 years. The deal is thought to be big - $7 million per year.
This could be the start of a run on goaltenders. If this is any indication of the market - teams will be looking to spend big on goalies.
Montoya is coming off some decent play, but some are saying this signing could be overpayment for services rendered.
"The pressure is certainly going to be on the guy's shoulder," one commentator speculated.
The Devils now have their #1 goalie, but they are not through yet since they have other roster vacancies.
